Q No 1 …..Why Started running / Running history

My current running activity has roots to my childhood, I would not say that I was athletic, but yes grew up watching tennis legends like John Mconroe / Bjorn Borg and other players including a vey calm and silent Chris Evert / Stefii Graff etc .

So watching these players playing in grand slams, along with watching track events in olompyics / commonwealth activated some cells in my brain which resulted in me joining Football  groupin Bandra, where I was staying in childhood, thus helping me get connected to physical activity. As during those times we did not have TV/MOBILES /etc so physical activity was required to keep oneself occupied.

What started as football / cycling activity during my childhood manifested and  transformed into playing badminton during my mid 25-30 as by then football had became irrelevant due to lack of open spaces in the city .

However playing badminton really helped me in endurance and flexibility and thus made me realize that endurance was key to any sporting activity. But once I entered into family way,I had lost much of the passion for any sports activity and coupled with work pressure put any activity to an complete stop for atleast 5-6 years.

Some where in year 2000, I had joined a reputed gymnasium and thus an obsession of treadmill running crept into my system. During the next 4-5 years period it was an treadmill running coupled with moderate strength training which helped me to sustain my passion for fitness.   But what changed was the introduction of marathon events in 2004 by SCMM  in Mumbai.   During that time, I was working for a large corporate and handling banking activity, and Standard Chartered Bank was one of our main bankers, and suddenly out of blue my friends in the above bank had filled for me in 21k in the year 2006, which eventually was an game changer for me …

That was 2006 and now 2019 here I am running since last 13 years, evolving and learning on the way ….made many friends, but my journey and thirst is still incomplete …

Running has taught me to be patient /be supportive / crushed my ego / connected me to myself and above all brought me closer to GOD.

Q no 2   :My various runs / events

When I started running in 2006, for nearly 5 years it was only 21.02 k but that changed in 2012 when I shifted to 42k category ….Why did I take so  much time ??

Maybe I had

had some mental block

Lack of confidence /

was comfortable in my category of 21k ,

did not have courage or  maybe host of  other issues which prompted me be in an comfortable zone but all this changed during the year 2012, when I switched gears to 42k.   Till today I do not know what prompted me to challenge this distance, maybe god was kind to me or my Gurujis blessings helped me, but since then I have never looked back and now shifted my focus and goal to ultra running.

One important thing which I found out during these runs is that I could now connect to myself and experienced spiritual connect with God / nature / fellow runners which gave me deep soulful satisfaction, it was as if my destiny had planned this for me …

My first ultra run was in November 2014 when I did 50 k in Bangalore ultra, and I just barely managed to complete it with emotional support from MrPranav Mehta (Shivaji Park Club),   who is a regular ultra runner, but this ultra put my EGO in its rightful place, and till date it has never risen again.

So this Ultra runs continued in 2015 wherein I attempted 75k in Bangalore ultra and completed without any major discomfort, by now I was feeling very spiritual and the connect to GOD and oneself made me attempt to do more such events in 2016  wherein I completed  11 ULTRA RUNS, apart from doing 8 FM AND 6 HM.
